I am making cakes for a wedding next Sat. (my first one). She is going very simple. She wants three 10 in basketweave cakes. They are going to have silk sunflowers on top and on the table. Please look at my basketweave practice cakes and let me know what you think. I am not sure about the rope border. Should I leave it off the bottom of the cake? Is there a different border you would suggest? Thanks for any help you can give. See my photos for pics of practice cake. Tracy

Tracy - I think your basketweave cakes are very nice and I like your borders both on top and on the bottom. I would do both. Good luck on your first wedding cake; let us know how it goes.

I also like the top and bottom borders. The one thing I've noticed that looks nice in basketweave is when they use different size tips for the vertical and horizontal. I think that makes a little more dramatic affect. They will look great though the way you've done it. Good luck!

I think your borders look very nice. I would bring the vertical lines of the basketweave a little closer together. Good luck. Make sure you post a pic when it's done.

I would also make the veritcal lines closer and try to make the rope border tighter but you really did do a very nice job. I remember my 1st wedding cake and I was freakin out so just remember to breathe you'll do great!!!

THanks guys. I am going to take your suggestions about bringing the lines closer. I am going to play around a bit tonight. I'll post with finished cake. Tracy
