Help Needed, Using Silver Dragees For First Time

I have a wedding cake due on the 30th of this month. It is a simple 3 tier stacked round cake. The decorations on it will be the silver dragees that go onto the sides of the cake. Does anyone have any tips on an easier way than using my fingers and placing them on the cake? I baked a small 6" cake to practice on and let me tell you what, it is the most frustrating thing to try to place these danged little pieces of silver @#@$ on a cake with my fingers. I'm sure that someone out there can give me a better idea on what to use (fingers crossed!!) and I'll be telling myself, "now why didn't I think of that".

Buy a pair of brand new tweezers. Should work like a charm icon_smile.gif

OK, I'm not sure if this would mess up the silver coating, but I used those teeny tiny sprinkles for Strawberry Shortcakes eyes (will post picture soon). I wet the end of a pick (either a toothpick or my Wilton tool) and the sprinkle stuck to the end of the pick long enough for me to put it in place. It's not a perfect method, but it eventually worked better than anything else I tried.

I use a toothpick. Dip it in the icing that you are using and pick up the dragee with the tip. Works great! You have to re-dip every couple of dragees to keep a little bit of icing on the tip of the toothpick.

I use a dot of buttercream or royal on the cake where you want to attach to dragees, then pick the dragees up with BENT style tweezers ( the kind they sell at fabric stores) and they attach with no hassle at all.
