I made a cake for my bosses birthday today. He was so thrilled with it , he asked if I made wedding cakes. I'm just really nervous because it's THE BOSS. His soon to be daughter in law came and saw the cake I made and she came by to talk to me. She said she was "very impressed" and showed me what she had in mind for her cake. It was a 4 tiered cake with push in pillars. I've never used pillars and just need some feedback as to how difficult it would be to do a 4 tiered cake without it falling over. HELP !!!

The push-in pillars make the construction easier. They absorb the weight of the cake and you should not need to dowel. I would transport this type of cake unstacked. Put it together at the site. You should consider doing it, if they were impressed with the BD cake. With this type of construction you can think of this as doing 4 BD cakes all the same design icon_smile.gif

Good Luck!!

I always like to use push in pillars better than the double plate and pillar method. I say go for it we will all be here for technical and moral support.
