My father is turning 50 in August and I am searching for ideas for his cake. I was hoping to maybe do something involving 50's cars or to do a Fifties theme, as he was born in '57.

i just saw a 1950's in the new posts today that was cool. i saw on another thread where someone did a sheet cake and they wrote on it what happened back in the year the person was born. that looked like fun to see how much things have changed since the birthday person was born and now. or you could do a big ole' jukebox. don't know why but i like jukeboxes...lol

I would love a challenge, since it is for my own father. I would like for it to be something unique and special. 
How about a tiered cake with a winding road and you can make cars from 50,60.70.80.90,2000 to whatever he is driving( or his dream car) on top. You could add people driving in clothes of that era and have road signs with popular sayings of diffrent era's. Or maybe along the road have billboards, A&W Drive in's whatever. just a thought

There's lot's of good ideas on here. You say you want something unique and special, how about a edible image of him as a baby or youngster maybe with him and his parent's standing outside of their 50's style home or in front of their car. That would be a good start for decorating the rest of the cake in 50's style.
