I asked.... OK I begged my sister in law to make a 3D horse cake for her daughter so I could get experience and a new picture for my photo album. She says OK, then calls me last night and asked me if I could still make it!! My son went over there today and apparently she had a birthday party this past weekend, bought a cake from somewhere else, and did not even invite us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I had to vent and I am very upset. ![]()
What?!?! This is your family and they didn't invite you to their daughter's birthday party?
OMG that is so wrong. I would not make that cake !!
Maybe they are having two parties, one for friends, one for family?
That does stink though.
That is rude not to invite you and yet still want a free cake! ![]()
I do cakes for my own family who appreciate it and always pay me anyway and am ALWAYS booked for my inlaws. They don't appreciate it and I don't want to exhaust myself doing a cake for someone that I don't get along with.
Wow, this is low. Maybe like okieinalaska said and they're having two parties? Still, you'd think she'd want such a cool cake at the bigger party. Before you get too mad, you ought to call and talk to her. I'd be furious myself, but family is one of those things that you need to keep the peace as much as possible. But I'm totally with you on this one, it would have been a great cake if you'd made it and it was really cold and rude to do this.
Do we have some of the same family? My Grandpa's 76th b-day is next weekend and my Grandma wanted to have a party at a restaraunt. My grandpa does not care for my two older step-cousins so her bright idea is to say it's only for their children and their UNMARRIED grandchildren, which not only cuts out the two older step-grandkids, but me and my middle sister too! BUT my cousin and her live in boyfriend are both invited because her boyfriend is "like a grandkid" THEN she starts hinting about a cake! NO WAY! What planet to these people come from?
OHHHH NOOOOO.... Its sad when even the elder in the family cant find a way to bring family together.
What are the showing the younger???
Sounds like alot of us are related lol...
I would politely tell her I'm sorry I'm afraid I can't make the cake now since you already had the party and didn't invite us but be sure to give me a call for your next event. And hang up.
Then if you still need/want the experience, make the cake and present it to your child/ren as a surprise or pop over to a friends house or a neighbor or a local business you frequent ![]()
That's cruddy! Even if they were having two parties, why wouldn't she have told you? Sorry - this is a bummer! Maybe she doesn't deserve a free cake - make it for your son instead. ![]()
