So i start teaching in september!! icon_biggrin.gif The instructor who is leaving, my teacher, is going to let me use her display's until i can get some of my own done. So what is good for a display? Right now she has the basketweave cake from course #2, a simple round cake with cornieli lace and a gumpaste flower, and an elaborate fondant cake, in the shape of a dining room table, compelte with gumpaste and fondant decorations like plates and a wine bottle, bread and butter, table cloth, everything! It's the cutest thing i've ever seen!! And unfortuantly, WAY beyond my talent at this point.

So i was thinking maybe a shape cake, since the first course is mostly about basics. Then i was thinking maybe a simple 2 tier wedding cake one, and possibly a purse or gumpaste shoe. I haven't tried either one of those yet, so we'll have to see what i can do.

What do you have in your display cases??

Jennifer

I haven't been teaching very long, but so far I have a simple round cake w/ roses (for the Course I example) and a two-color basketweave w/ the RI flowers (for the Course II example). I think the basketweave is always good, because so many think it is impressive--and then to think they will be able to do that after only Course I and II.

I've really enjoyed the few months I've been teaching--Good luck and have fun! thumbs_up.gif

I would decorate with the most difficult techniques in each course so that the students know what they can aspire to.
