Gina1221, I love the reasons you listed for this theme. I have the lunar eclipse written in my daily planner already so I can remind my students about it (they return on the 27th). 
Marthajo you can absoutely post things that are in your gallery. We don't mind that at all!!
As far as the Iraq soldiers tribute, if you choose 'Heroes' that would include that. They are our everyday heroes. Peoples who's lives are dedicated to keeping us safe and free!!!

Excellent point! If space wins, then perhaps we'll do a special theme like we did with Harry Potter, or we'll just try again in September! 
OK - I have not really followed these threads before, but I looked last month because I did not know the T stood for theme....

Anyways, this may have already been done - or it may be too late to suggest - but in my part of the country - there are fairs everywhere you go right about now... street fairs, county fairs, community fairs, state fairs.
So my idea for THEME of the month is:

I like all the end of summer ideas
***** dog days of summer****
***** vacations ******
Didn't do harry potter last month don't know anything about it, I know its hard to believe I even have kids and they never got in to it. So I'm really hoping we get something fun this month can't wait to find out.

That song always made me cry when I was young (ie when it was new).
The radio station that is on in the store where I work has added that song to its rotation lately, so every once in a while I hear it there. The first time it came on I stopped in amazement - it was probably the first time in several decades that I had heard it! (and yes, I could still remember every word) And the artist, in case you can't remember, I believe was Terry Jacks!
