I've never worked with chocolate fondant before.

But the cake that I am going to be making needs to have chocolate fondant because it needs to have the brown color.

What is the best tasting chocolate fondant?
Do any of them taste good?

Is there anything special about chocolate fondant that I should know
about before I start working with it?

The only kind of fondant I've ever used is Wilton Ready-Made.

I've only used the Chocolate Satin Ice. I think it was very tasty, but I don't have anything else to compare it to.

I do know that just about everyone on this site has said "no" to Wilton ready-made. Some have added flavoring to it, but I don't think it's as good as some of the others out there. I'll stay tuned to see what everyone else says is the best.

I have used the chocolate mmf on this website and got a lot of compliments on it...it's very easy too.

I have used both the Pettinice chocolate fondant and the Satin Ice chocolate fondant and hands down the Satin Ice is the best; it tastes like Tootsie Rolls and has a nice chocolate flavor. Satin Ice might be a little more expensive than the others, but in my opinion, it is so worth the money.

I've used Chocopan's chocolate fondant and think it tastes like a tootsie roll.

Satin Ice is the only one I get people to eat. But I do have trouble with the dark chocolate one; seems to take forever kneading to have no streaks (anyone else have this problem?). I haven't tried Chocopan - but after all the reviews I think I'll try it also.

There can be a little streaking with the Chocolate Satin Ice, but i have found that if i rub a little Crisco on my hands while kneading, it works perfectly and gives it a nice sheen.

Thanks girls : )

I ended up buying Satin Ice Dark Chocolate and it's DELICIOUS!

I'm so looking forward to letting people try it on the cake tomorrow.

I really regret letting my family try Wilton's Ready Made white fondant
for their first fondant experience, because it sounds like Satin Ice and other brands have a completely different flavor. Maybe they don't really hate fondant, maybe they just hate Wilton's fondant.

But they loved Satin Ice chocolate fondant : )
