I plan to make my son and old style rocket for his 7th birthday. I want to use red fondant, but I hate the taste. Can I mix something with the fondant to give it flavor and not mess up the color? his birthday is at the end of September and I want a tall standing rocket that instead of using plan old candles will have sparkle candles at the bottom so it looks like it's blasting off! it'll be fun for him. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can use Lorann oils to flavor fondant.

What fondant are you using? What taste do you hate, the fondant itself or fondant with red food coloring added?

Here are a couple of choices for you:

1. Buy some premade red Satin Ice. (I only use Satin Ice red when I need red the same with green, blue and black also.)
2. Add some flavoring to your fondant if you make it with MMF and food coloring.
3. Don't use Wilton fondant because plain or with color added it tastes like chemicals. icon_biggrin.gif

How about making your own MMF using the pink marshmallows from the multi-color pack and then adding a bit of red coloring to darken the color?
