I just wanted some opinions here - do you think a 2 layer (4"tall) 8" round serves 20 people? I know the Wilton chart says so, but what do you think? I have to make a round cake for 20 people and am doubting that it will serve 20, I always second guess myself and am thankful CC is here - so helpful!!!

Yes, I do. I cut all my cakes 1x2x4. First, it's bigger than you think it is. Second, cake is a dessert, not a meal.

Here is a pictorial on how to cut cakes my way....been doing it this way for 25 years and have never run out of cake:

Also, on my FAQ page - http://cateritsimple.com/_wsn/page13.html - I've added a section on serving size, indicating that we assume "normal and average" consumption. If their family tends to eat like Jethro Bodine, then they need to plan accordingly and order more cake/food.

Is this cake for sale or for home? I use the Wilton chart too, I know i can't eat a 2x2x4" piece of cake unless it's for a meal.
If it's for a family thing make more if you don't mind leftovers or want larger slices. For sale let them know the serving size and then they can decide if they want to pay for more cake, don't give them cake.

Thanks for the help! You are right, 1x2x4 is much more than I think, with bc and mmf it is very sweet as well - I certainly can not eat more than that. Thanks for the links indydebi, I will check them out! I am selling this cake, but I just started selling cakes and want to make sure everyone is happy, guess I'm too much of a people pleaser!!!
