Any advice out there? The bakery opens in 2 weeks and I am sure I should have already had this done, but need to try to crank it out.... I just need to know how/where to go to purchase my domain name without dropping too much money. I am pretty good and adding photos and working with that sort of designg stuff, so I could probably handle the basics but would eventually hire someone to do the great work... but any advice would be GREAT!
I get these emails from yahoo a lot where they off domains for pretty cheap. I think its something like $9-$20.month. You might look online for that. It will even let you check to see if the domain you want is available. Beyond that point I havent actually used them, but it's a suggestion.
You can get a domain name pretty cheep its hosting that you pay for.. If you are going to go with a web designer you should look for them 1st alot of times they offer packages that include hosting because that is what everyone wants from you your hosting contract its like a cell phone contract very valuable so dont jump right into one make sure you find the best one for your needs. That is the best advice I can give you. Good luck.
I pay $14.95 a month for register.com and I get 20 pages of space. I also have a connecting link to my Flickr website where I have most of my photos. I opted for the $25 a year upgrade on Flickr for unlimited space. Both are very easy to do yourself. I had my initial website up and running in 2 hours.
My son-in-law took the register.com website for our cookie website and worked his magic on it for a really great look.
I registered my domain for $1.99 with GoDaddy and I pay $8.95 a month for hosting through them. I pay for my hosting on a month-to-month basis, but you can get it cheaper if you pay yearly, for two years, etc. I used their WebSite Tonite templates to set mine up and it was so easy. I know nothing about HTML or websites and it turned out great!
