I know this might be a dumb question (I feel like I'm always prefacing my questions with that statement icon_redface.gif ) but when I look up sheet cake sizes/dimensions, I get different things. Can someone give me the dimensions for a 1/4, 1/2 and whole sheet cake? I'm trying to sort out my pans and servings, etc and figured I better get a definitive answer. I think I have 1/4 and 1/2 sheet Wilton pans but I just want to make sure. Thanks!

I refuse to use the terms because most people don't know what it is either .... here's my explanation, along with a link to "doing the math" on how many they serve.

the sheet cake sizes the I use are 9x13 for a 1/4 sheet, 12x18 for a 1/2 sheet and then 2 12x18 for a full sheet cake. As far as i know there isn't a pan for a full sheet cake...
i know some people use an 11x15 for a 1/2 sheet cake....everyone's sizes for sheet cakes varies...so when a customer wants to order a 1/2 sheet cake, i usually ask them how many people they need the cake to feed...i focus on that more than 1/4, 1/2 and full sheet cake.....they may be ordering a full sheet cake when really all they need is a 1/2....

On the wilton performance Pans the 1/4 is 9x13x2 On the 1/2 12x18x2, they do have another pan that is 11x15x2, not sure which one you may have, on the decorator preferred pans, which are the extra thick pans the sizes run the same.

I forgot but on the full sheet unless you have an oven that will fit the pan, you would use a full sheet baking pan with an extender to make a full sheet which is typically 24x 18 x2. Or you would bake 2 1/2's and put them together to make one full sheet. You would of course need the full boards to put that large of a cake on.

Thanks guys! I think that the pans I have are the 12x18 and 9x13. Do I really need the 11x15?

the smallest I ever make is 11x15. Haven't used a 9x13 in years.

It might actually be an 11x15. The majority of my cake stuff is in storage so I'm dealing with mental pictures here! I'm just trying to figure out what I need to buy and what I already have.

9x13 is smaller than the 11x15...serving wise it makes a difference. I always give the bigger of the 2 for the price.

i would say if you already have a 12x18 you don't need a 11x15...IMHO
