Can you help me? I'm going to travel to Baltimore soon & I'm wondering if there are any good cake supply shops that might be worth visiting. Where I live, we have only Michaels & AC Moore. I won't have a lot of free time, so I was hoping that some of you might be able to give me suggestions beyond what I can find in the phone book. Thanks so much!!

I don't know of any in Baltimore City. Where are you going to be, exactly - B'more is a big place

There are only two places I know of to get cake supplies from. One is in Annapolis and another in Glen Burnie which is closer to Baltimore (Ferndale to be exact). I dont know of any others in Baltimore at all.

My Wilton Instructor used to go to a shop called Little Bitts in Silver Spring. I've been meaning to go and see what they have but haven't yet. It's probably about 2 hours from Baltimore so you may not want to make the trip down if your time is limited.

I only know of Fran's cake and candy in Fairfax. That would be quite a trip from Baltimore. I don't know of this shop in Silver Spring, but if you are talking Silver Spring, MD which is right off 495, that would be pretty close to Baltimore. I am only 60 miles from Baltimore and pass Silver Spring on the way there. Unless it is a different town altogether, I have only been here a year but have made numerous trips to Walter Reed in Silver Spring, MD. Good luck for some reason it seems we are lacking in good cakes shops in this area for being such a populated place.

These are ones I have been to in order of distance from Baltimore. All are good.
Kake Kraft Korner
7219 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061 - 7.0 miles
you will need a car to get here, and to the others as well. make sue you have good directions.

Cakes Plus
6 reviews | 3325 Corridor Marketplace, Laurel, Maryland 20724 - 16.3 miles
the advantage of Cakes Plus is it right off I 295 (B/W PArkway) - it is on the west side of the interstate (on your right as you head south) at Route 198.

The Little Bitts Shop Bob and Ann Schilke 11244 Triangle Lane Wheaton, MD 20902 301-933-2733
(this is 40 minutes if you go during non-rush hour traffic. rush hour can turn this into a 2 hour trip, since you hit B;more and DC traffic. It isn't the easiest place to find even if you know the area and the parking is extremely limited)

Cakes Plus is actually on Rt 1 before you get to the ramp for 198, isnt it? The pink building?
She's going to Severna Park so I gave her directions to the one in Annapolis and Kake Kraft. I forgot about the one in Laurel.

It isn't on route 1. it is off of 198 in the target/kohl's shopping center (on the kohl's side) near corridor wine (hence the name of the shopping center) and party plus. http://www.cakesplus.com/

I live about 2 miles from severna park, and I think that of those by the easiest one to get to will be cakes plus.

There is one in frederick (about 40 min west on 70) Called the carriage house, but that is probably too far. It does have lots of great stuff though.

There are 2 places in Baltimore County/City that you can go to. In the White Marsh area of Baltimore County there is a place called The Cake and Wedding Cottage 410-529-0200. It is about 15 min above the city depending on where your coming from. It is on BelAir Rd/Rte 1. I'm really bad with directions but they are listed in the online yellow pages. The secind place is called The Cake Connection in Dundalk 410-285-2064, probably about 10 minutes from the city. They are on Merritt Blvd. These are probably your best bet if you are in Baltimore. Where are you going to be visiting?

Hate when that happens! I think they also opened up a cake place down in the Wise Market shopping center. Ive never been in there so I dont know if they just sell cakes or if they have supplies or not. Its really bad trying to find suppliers in the phone book. I couldnt even find Kake Kraft Korner in there.

Google is your best friend when planning a trip. I feel so bad to say that I've never traveled to any cake supply store outside my town lmfao but I can say that if you go to Google.com and type in Cake Decorating Supply Stores in ____ MD you'll get a yellow pages TYPE listing of places with maps and all icon_wink.gif Since you haven't stated for us MD stalkers where you're visiting I can't help ya with that lol.

Thanks everyone! I'm actually going to be driving from WV and staying near the airport. Now that I have some "real life" reviews, I'll check my maps and Google to see which of your recommendations I might be able to get to. It's nice to hear from people who have actually been to places, rather than just do an online search with no way to tell if a place is worth checking out! Again, I appreciate your help - thanks a bunch!
