I am working on a 25th anniversary cake that requires a lot of silver....the problem is that I cannot find silver ANYTHING within 30 minutes of where I live (upper corner of Washington state). Can anyone recommend a website or otherwise where I can get my hands on silver by this coming Friday? Also, my experienced sages, I am applying the silver to fondant so I am assuming the silver luster dust/alcohol combo is my best route? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

ojah_w welcome to CC! I've ordered lustre dusts from countrykitchensa.com. they have pretty fast shiipping. Their customer service is very friendly! You could call them and ask if you'd get it in time - I think they're from Indiana.

In a pinch, pure silver and gold are considered edible. You can get leaf at most craft stores--just make sure you get the real thing, and obviously use corn syrup or something edible as the "glue" to get it to stick instead of the noxious glue they recommend.

Oh, and dragees are usually available in grocery stores.

Do you have any luster dust at all? In a pinch, you could make a light grey icing and use a pearl luster dust over it to give it a shimmery appearance.
