I just did my husbands this weeked (I have not posted the pic yet) and I did a half sheet chocolate borders and on the top I put white icing that I then sprayed in blue, then I did a small square and placed it on a corner. Since my grandkids are crazy @ pirates I purchased some pirates of the caribbean set and it had a ship with several pirates and a cannon. I placed one pirate on the ship and I glued two sticks and placed HAPPY BIRTHDAY and his name on them and put the as the sail. Then on the top I had a pirate next to the cannon and one sitting by a barrel. It looked really good and the boys were able to keep the characters to play with. I will hopefully post it by tomorrow.

Could you do a treasure chest and use those chocolate foil coins, candy necklaces and ring pops for the treasure??

What about a treasure map? You could do really funky edges, and also have the "X" on the map be a place in your house or yard where you've hidden one of his presents, and he has to find it? Just a thought.
