... start a thread about cake balls and not put up a disclaimer! Someone should have warned me. I didnt eat breakfast today because I pigged out on them and I'm blaming all of YOU. Yes, it is all YOUR fault I kept shoveling these lil guys down my throat! Now I have an addiction to these little fellas! OH MAN ARE THESE THINGS GOOD!. They are so small that you can easily justify eating more than just one. Or two. Or three even. I need an intervention!
i know! aren't they out of this world?! i tried them for the first time this week and i find myself constantly thinking of what combo to do next! its so bad!... but by bad in a 'good' way.
Oh my, I have a mental list going of what "combos" to do! I'm more excited about baking now than ever because I know what my left over cake is going to end up as..........CAKE BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAWWHHHH YUMMY Cakeballs!!! There have been alot of threads about them the last few days and I was wondering how many people tried them for the first time this weekend. Once you do, you will never have another failed cake. Even if it comes out of the oven lopsided, and sunk in the middle it still makes yummy cakeballs!
Why oh why do mine not turn out any good. I tried the original recipe where you add the cocoa and liquid creamer, and they were ok, but not something I would ever want to eat more than one of. I tried them with a cake filling and a little buttercream, they were AWFUL. No matter what I do, they are soggy and slimy... add more cake, anyting to try to dry it up.... just horrible. HELP! I want these to be good like everyone says.

Dont add the "liquid" stuff until the end... add your solids first, mix, and then see if you even need to add the liquid! Sometimes you dont depending on how moist your cake is!

That was me! I'm new here, this is my first post.
I hadn't intended to make cake balls-I started out making a white cake with vanilla/caramel creamer added (idea from this site!), 2 layers, with caramel filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. But, one of my cakes turned out, and one stuck to the pan. As we were nibbling on the remains, I thought about the cake balls I had read about. I made them just as the recipe states; my question is, do you crumble the cake by hand? I "food processed" mine, and the cake balls turned out to be an almost fudge-like consistency. Are they supposed to be more "cakey"?
sarge- Welcome to CC! I crumble my cake and mix by hand that way I kind of get a feel for how wet I want them to be. They aren't the texture of cake which I always thought that the name cakeballs was deceiving. They are more dense and fudgy like. And the more liquid you add changes everything. I like to eat them straight from the freezer and my parents want them refridgerated, my brother sets his out to room temp. that changes alot of the taste and texture too.
You guuuuuyyyys!!! I'm already addicted to MMF. I eat it like candy, and its all YOUR fault. Now I am going to have to try these cake balls and if I like them and they make me fat I will blame you!!! ![]()
I made them for the first time today and WOW! I blew my diet right out the window. I started out with chocolate cake and I must have added too much creamer and then added white cake to thicken it up. Man o man! I am including samples in my cake orders for tomorrow. This is something I definately want to pursue. My wheels are turning trying to come up with different combinations. But all I can really think up is sprinkling them with chopped nuts after they are dipped in chocolate. But what nuts are best for this - pecans or walnuts. And how do you do the peanut butter.
..and do these little jewels need to be refrigerated if using liquid coffee creamer?
I posted this in another Cake Ball topic...but I (skeptically) made some with chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, white chocolate chips and kahlua. Dipped them in dark chocolate candy melts and drizzled with white chocolate Sent them off to hubby's office...got a call that that's what everyone there now thinks I need to be in business doing. Selling Cake Balls.
(I renamed them Chocolate Kahlua Cake Truffles...it seemed more dignified.)
