I was just wondering how it tastes?? And how easy is it to use? I just realized today that a local cake supply store carries it, and am debating trying it.
The price is comparable to Wilton's so I was hoping someone here may be able to tell me more about it.
Thanks in advance!!!!!!
Teresa
I am going to give you a bump on this one. I do like the MMF, but if I can buy it already made.....
I use pettinice I think it tastes ok (although I'm not a huge fondant fan) but my husband loves it he is always eating my off cuts and I have had very favourable feedback from my customers about it. You can also "polish" the pettinice to give it a slight sheen, not sure if you can do that with wilton or not as haven't tried that brand. Just use an offcut and roll it into a ball and then flatten it on the bench slightly then use this piece as a tool and smooth over the covered cake helps get a nice finish.
I think pettinice tastes alot better than wilton. I used it when I lived in OZ and it works great easy handling very used friendly. I just moved here have tried the wilton and am not impressed. It isn;t as easy to work with and the taste well its not my choice. I am trying to find a local seller in louisiana so I can switch. But my advice buy a small batch and give it a go.
I like Satin Ice best of all the pre-made fondants. I'm almost ashamed to say I have never made my own. Satin Ice white tastes like marshmallow to me and the chocolate tastes like a smooth soft tootise roll. If you order directly from the company (no credit card orders) it's much cheaper than anywhere else. OH, you have to order 40 pounds minimum.
Landa,
Yes thats right, they don't take credit cards. On your first order you pre-pay by check, after that you place an order (my first was over $300.00) and send a check the same day. They seem to cross in shipping/mail and arrive at their locations about the same time. (GA. me & NY them).
