Now it is my turn to whine about some people. this girl wants a weddingcake. i had a meeting with her and showed some pictures.
she asked an approximate cake price for a small and easy cake. ok so i told her how much that specific cake would have been. She couldn't decide and i told her to mail me if she finds something so i can tel her the price. ( the cake has to be for 300 people) So then she sends me a picture from lindy smith page

and i send her the price telling that the cake will not be 100 % like hers but similar. then i got an answer that the price i have sent her is rediculus because that cake is soo totally easy to make and how come i could charge her like that. 
She was expecting not to pay more than approcximately 300 $ for the whole cake.
Am i stupid and a thief or what? but i will never ever make a cake like that for this money. i need many hours to do it and the cost of fondant etc.
So i send her a nice letter and told her that there is no way i will do it for nothing. Right now i wish she would not contact me again. i really don't want to make a cake for her even if she will agree with the price i send her.
ok, i love to make cakes but sorry, i want some money as well, and i will defenetly not pay on top myself to make cakes for strangers.
And you know what really made me mad was how she said it is so easy to make. I make figures and fondant but it takes long time it is not like i do them 3 min each. 
I wish it was so easy.

She's crazy, tell her to try making it herself and see how easy it is. If she contacts you again tell her to go to the grocery store, they won't make a cake for $1 a serving either and I don't know of many grocery stores that do fondant.
If you do if for her add a $100 tip in for yourself for the final price for having to deal with such a nut.

No, there is nothing wrong with your thinking. Stupidity on her part. People think that because a cake is sleek and smooth that it is easy. We know that is far from the truth. Getting a cake that smooth is HARD! We can cover up with all sorts of flowers, etc and do it EASY!
Stick to your guns! Maybe she'll go elsewhere. She sounds like she can only be trouble.
That is a beautiful cake and she apparently doesn' t know how "easy" it would be to make it....and whether it's easy or not, it's still time consuming.

That's why I taught a class (of my friends) how to make fondant roses back in May. They had fun doing them but after the class, they all told me that making two was fun, but if they ever want more at once they'll ask me, and pay the price for it!! That made them understand how much work it is!! And they have lots friends each, so they spread the word also...

Ha! I did exactly the same thing with my friends...they always wanted cakes basically for free. One day I invited 3 of them over and we had cake decorating 101. They could not believe the work that went into a cake! I imagine this bride has absolutely no clue about the actual work that goes into a cake, especially one as beautiful as the one she wants!

Thanks for your support. i just feel so much better. I just really hate it if people think that i am trieing to steal their money. I think my prices are pretty good for the work that i put in them. I believe people really have no idea how time consuming is making a cake.
Of course i will not go down with my price. And if she will not contact me within next week it is so easy to tell her that i just cann't do it because there is no time to do the preparations.
and i will be saved from kneading that huge amount of fondant to an equal purple tone... i ache my muscels just thinking about it.
I will let you know what will happen with her.
