I am doing a cake for a 4 yr old's brithday and the mother would like swags on each tier. I am not the best "swag maker" when it comes to piping BC and was wondering if anyone had ever tried MMF? Im wondering if the fondant would be too heavy for the icing on the sides of the cake. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I would think BC. Maybe someone else could help you more.

For a 4 yr olds cake, I would go with buttercream. I think the fondant swags look great on a more elegant cake. Just my Opinion though.

I would pipe the swags in a #16 tip. You can then over-pipe with a #2 tip in a color from the cake design. It will help cover the swag, and would look nice and colorful. I'm betting your swags look better than you think...we're our own worst critics.

if she wants swags...cover the cake with bc and ise MMF for the swags only, roll it out thin...and it should be fine

I agree completely. A four year old likes to taste everything, and the BC would taste better to them.
