I just made my usual BC frosting (it's listed in the recipe section as "Julie's Less Sweet BC") and used avocado CK food coloring. I hadn't used this particular food coloring for a long while and usually use Americolor. My frosting had a different taste to it and I am trying to figure out what was different? I did everything the same as I usually do...was wondering if maybe it was the food coloring? Any help?

Thanks,
Julie

The only one that I know of is red. They have worked long and hard to make it taste specifically like bitter ass. Sorry, I don't know about the avocado icon_smile.gif

jdelectables - glad you posted this as I thought I was crazy. Sometimes I taste a bitterness when I add alot of paste color - so something must be going on. Never have this issue when making lighter colors.

I'd put a little dab on a toothpick and try it out! I did this once with a white color that I had been using, and I found that brand did have a bitter taste. I switched to Americolor because I have found they don't change the taste of my icings.
