Do y'all ever wonder if the cakes that we put so much love and care in to means as much to the people that receive them as they do to us? I only ask this because I've had so many people ask me for a cake and they tell me that I don't have to decorate it if I didn't want to. All they want is just cake and frosting! I would feel strange giving an undecorated cake. Just like my co-worker that called me last night. She knows that I have a freezer full of chocolate cake (from the bride that changed her mind about her cake flavor) so she asked to buy one of the tiers (the 6 in.). She doesn't want it decorated. I think it's because it's only for her and she just wants to eat it! LOL But I have had people ask me about undecorated cakes.

What do y'all think? Do you come across this too?

i get that a lot at work. most times, it's someone who found "the cutest little things" and they are going to do cake squares.

sometimes, there are cake decorators that just want to practice there cake decorating...no, for real!

some are working on "something"...i reckon it's a secret 'cause they don't share project details with me...

I hate to admit it, but I don't really like frosting. I would rather eat cake without it. (I can feel the tomato throwing beginning! icon_lol.gif) I love to decorate but when I eat the cake, I generally scrape all my hard work off. My daughter is the same way.

I would be one of the people buying a 6" undecorated cake for dessert!

Yeah, I sometimes feel like it doesn't mean as much to them as it does to me.

Take some of that extra cake and make cakeballs and sell them. They are wonderful!

I've had several customers call/come in and order a cake without any decoration. Personally, I don't care...I charge them the same amount and I am assuming if they are going to decorate it themselves then they know how to bake a cake but think mine taste better! Also, maybe they do just want a cake to eat...so why bother with all of the time decorating it. I really don't think it's an insult. thumbs_up.gif

Oh! I wasn't saying that I thought it was an insult icon_redface.gif I was just commenting that sometimes I feel that our customers don't care as much about the decoration of a cake as we do icon_smile.gif

I think it is very much a compliment that you are getting requests for undecorated cakes. Means your cakes must taste as good as they look! icon_lol.gif

MMMMMmmmmm.....I just looked at your photos! I am coming to raid your freezer! Your cakes do look delicious! No wonder you are getting calls .

They are probably thinking, " Don't take the time to decorate the cake, just get it to me ASAP!"

I think that only people that decorate cakes really see that it's a "masterpiece".........it's kinda like artwork that you don't understand, unless of course you could view it from the artists eyes.

I have customers that will make over a cake, but it's still just cake to them. Most don't ever hesitate to cut it, much less eat it.
