Does it matter which canon printer you use... will any of them work for edible image purposes?

Thanks.. I read on kopykakes.com that the cartridges for that printer were discontinued...

Which Kopykake Edible Inks fit your Printer?
** NEW ADVICE **

The Canon iP3000 and iP4000 printers have been discontinued.

Kopykake does not have cartridges to suit the

newest printers (such as the iP4200).

We are researching new cartridge technology and will publish

information when available.

I don't buy mine from Kopykake. I better check Sugarcraft. If they still have some, I might better buy a few. Thanks for the heads-up!

I have another question... Most of the printers listed in the article about edible images are retired or discontinued... What exactly does that mean? If the printers are being discontinued will that matter as far as supplies. will the cartridges still be made for these printers.... how exactly would that work.

Where on KopyKake did you see that the cartidges were being discontinued?? If it is in the same spot that I am looking at now (which is the quote from them you posted -

"The Canon iP3000 and iP4000 printers have been discontinued. Kopykake does not have cartridges to suit the newest printers (such as the iP4200). We are researching new cartridge technology and will publish information when available." -

is just saying that those printers were discontinued, but not the cartridges. If it was somewhere else, please let us know!

I just received my printer a couple of days ago. I searched for literally a month on every site I could find and Ebay. One of the few not discontinued was (I think) the I9900, but it was really expensive and takes 8 tanks of ink.

I ended up getting a Pixma IP1500 from Ebay, but did pay more than a lot of people on this site have paid. It seems to me that a lot of people are currently bidding on these discontinued Canon printers (probably a lot of us on this site icon_biggrin.gif ), so the prices seemed really high to me.

I recommend just going to ebay, go to the computers section on the left-hand side of the screen, then to printers, then select Canon and start searching. I hope that helps!

Cool, trent. But you did not have to blur the face on the cake. That is considered part of the decorated cake and is allowed. Hope I didn't offend you, but alot of newbies may not know that.

O.k. so I've had my printer for weeks.. it actually arrived 3 days after I ordered it. I haven't used it yet...I just opened the box to take it out tonight... I was so excited to order it then get it... then I was too intimidated to even open the box.. So, now that I've opened it and set it up... My question is about the printhead... I open the silver pouch and it smells like chemicals and has like this blue dye or color on it... is it supposed to be like that..Am I suppossed to wash the print head before I put it in the printer since it's going to be used for edible food coloring.... TIA.

The blue stuff allows the printer head to slide.

Yes, as long as the blue stuff is not on the little points where you put your ink in, you will be fine. The blue stuff should be on the bottom.
