Ok, I am making my first real for hire cake. I have been excited about it and now I am starting to freak out.
The cake is for Sunday. I made the cakes today, but when I tasted the trimmings, they dont seem as tasty as usual. I made crusting butttercream and it seems to be melting. So I frosted the cakes and they are in the refidgereator right now. Am I screwed? Help anyone? Will the frosting set up and then be ok or do I need to start over.
I started today, just incase something like this happens. I just feel like I have gotten myself in over my head. I know that I can do this, but in the middle of it, I am doubting myself!

I've had that happen a couple times this summer with the icing, but I think it was my own fault for hurrying the cakes along before they were cool enough in the first place. Our weather has been funny lately, too, as you know (I'm in The Colony) with threats of rain and then no rain and cool days and warmer days... I hate to say it, but I'd suggest one of two things to do, both of which I had to do earlier in the summer: Either do NO decorating on the cake until tomorrow at least, to give the icing time to do whatever it's going to do. If the icing is "weeping" it will be okay but it might take until tomorrow. If the icing is truly seeming to be sliding off or buckling, you're going to have scrape it off and go at it again.
This is your first paid cake, so you will surely want to take the extra steps to make sure this one looks great.
PM me if you want to, I'm expecting to be home all weekend.
