Cake Balls, I Need Your Opinions...

I have LOTS of cake scarps and I want to make some cake balls, I also have left over whipped cream, so I was thinking to mix the cake scraps with the whipped cream, dulce de leche (dense milk caramel) and maybe some kind of liquor, what do you think? coat them with powder sugar or candy melts.
Oh my! My mouth is watering all ready although not sure if you would need the liquor with the other stuff. You might make it too moist.
Ok I gotta question on this one??? I baked a cake about a month ago and put it in my freezer crumb coated. Only used the new freezer press and seal. Had it on a cake board. I thought it would only be in there a day or 2. Wound up being a month and kids tossed things in on top of cake. So not so presentable even for a family cake. I was going to try doing the cake balls but wondered if it might be freezer burned. What do you think?? I was going to take it out and taste it and see. And if I do will it work with it if it is kind of dried out?? I guess that kind of sounds dumb. But I have never made them before and don't want a sheet cake go to waste
Help please!!
I would think that using a cake that is kind of dry would be fine since you are adding flavors and liquids to it then coating it with chocolate. I don't think anyone would notice if it was originally dried out . Of course take that all with a grain of salt since I have never made cake balls. But I do have frozen cake in my freezer too that is a month old and will be made into cake balls for next weekend. My grandbaby is going to be 1 year old so I will be doing the cake!!!
Thanks I think I will try it. I guess I can't really ruin it cause cake is already smashed
So I hopefully can salvage it and have a new thing to make. I am thinkin my friends will enjoy these for christmas if I can perfect them ![]()
I did that last month too. Fixed a cake, thought I was gonna use it that week, the girl changed her flavors, so I rebaked and forgot about it in the freezer.
I used it to make cakeballs and they were great. I just had mine in a plastic gallon size bag. It was fine. You want it a little dry so by the time you add your icing or liquor, it will be moist enough to hold together.
