I'm new to baking and decorating and was just wondering how you get a character cake level. I have had loads of success with sheet cakes and rounds using the baking strips, but I can't see how they can be used on a shaped pan. I'm busy with SpongeBob at the moment!!

I always drop them on the counter about 10 times to get all the air bubbles to come to the top. I think a whole lot depends on your cake--what you add to it or the brand you use. Everyone has their own prefernce. I like Duncan Hines but that is just me, Betty Crocker cakes always crack on me. It could be the weather also--just my preference.
