Getting My License- Need Commercial Frige!
Business By CAKESHERWAY Updated 24 Jul 2007 , 10:08pm by CakeDiva73
Hi everyone! I have done my homework and decided that I will get licensed and stay AT HOME with my business instead of attempting a storefront. I went to the health dept and spoke to the health inspector that I will be working with thru the process. I live in Illinois and since 2006, they are now enforcing the regulation that all illinois kitchens must have commercial grade friges and freezers.
I knew this but was hoping that (since we live out in the middle of nowhere) that the instpector could have offered more options for finding this equipment other than to say GOOGLE. So, does anyone know where I should go first? It would be great to find a USED set and I need nothing big as I have very little room. Thanks!
What state are you in? I live in Florida and believe it or not, I got my commercial refrigerator from ebay and was able to drive to pick it up to save on shipping. I got a great deal on a worktop fridge. My space is limited as well, so I wanted something that would kill two birds with one stone. Also you might want to talk to some restaurant owners in the area. They know usually know where the local used equipment stores are at and who has the best deals. Good luck in your search....

You can try looking for local auctions I have picked up a lot of great stuff really cheap. Check out http://www.auctionzip.com type in your zip code and look for commerical auctions.

You can actually find commercial grade fridge/freezers at Lowe's and Best Buy. They don't look like the huge stainless steel appliances that we are used to but they are commercial grade! Best of luck!
Thanks for the ideas! I will be on the phone calling around in the morning and watching ebay! Can't wait to get them!
Craig's List is another option....since they have local listings, you don't have to worry about shipping and lots of business open, close and change hands so I see lots of listing for commercial grade equipment.
