I'm delivering a wedding cake this afternoon and am at a loss on how to secure the cake topper on the top tier. There are three tiers separated with the crystal-look pillars. The tiers are covered in choco-pan with buttercream underneath.

The topper is a Lenox figurine of a bride and groom dancing. I already cut away the fondant where they will stand. And I put three dowels under the bride and one under each foot of the groom. Any suggestions how to assure the figurine will stay intact till the cutting?

Thanks!!

This may be too late for you, but I normally make nice small board to set on top of the cake. You can then use double stick tape to secure it to the board. In the future you do not need to cut away the fondant, just put your dowels in to help with the weight of the topper, make a small covered board and put your topper on that board. That way when they take the topper off there will still be icing on their anniversary cake.

i would for sure wait to place it till you arrive, and then secure it with a little royal icing. that's what i would do. that royal icing is like glue! hope that helps...i too would like to know how anyone else would do it...

Thanks! I'll make the royal icing. Good idea! Cupcake, I like your idea of keeping the cake intact for their anniversary. Guess I should have submitted my question before cutting away....Cakebybirdiem, I'm going to place the topper on after delivering. Thanks!
