I've been searching for cake classes that are around my area (central PA) that won't cost me an arm and a leg. Is there anyone out there who teaches in their home or work kitchen for a lower cost and is either in PA or Virginia? Thank you
On the Wilton site it says they have places that do the courses in State College but then again it says not all courses or stores do all of them it just has all the locations of most of the Michaels stores. Has anyone gone to any of these and know the costs/locations of them?
I'm confused, are you talking about expensive kind of "real school" classes, or the Wilton course I, II and III? I took the Wilton classes at JoAnn fabrics for $25 each, but for course 2, 3 and the Fondant and Gumpaste I was given a certificate for $10 off each...
Yes I meant the Wilton courses but anything really. Because my mother used to know someone here who she thought might teach me but doesn't do it anymore. So basically I'm just trying to find someone who has taught people out of their home or something set up like that.
I will check to see if the Joann Fabrics in DuBois does them... I doubt it though.
JoAnns, Michaels, and A.C. Moore all offer them... good luck finding someone. If not, I know there are many informative DVD's and books out there. OH, and this website will be more helpful to you than all of those things combined ![]()
Well, you can take the Wilton courses at your local Michael's store!! Just go to www.michaels.com and do a search for Wilton cake classes, and once you click on the description of the class, you can do a search by your zipcode to get the address of the Michaels in your area..I had to drive 2 hrs for my class, but it was well worth it...It only cost me $30, and then the kit for the month of July was only a penny...I'm taking course II next month, and the special is that the class is 30% off... The student kits are not included with paying for the class (kit I costs around $20 and kits II and III cost around $25)...but they are always running specials for the classes, you just have to be looking...I'm currently halfway through course I and it is so much fun!! I accidentally stuck my hand in my cloud for my rainbow cake in course I so I'm too embarrassed to post pics, but I'm really enjoying myself in the class and it's really going to benefit me!!
