I am sooo frustrated, the fondant daisies (primarily the large ones) are falling off of the wedding cake. The cake is iced w/ bc, and I used bc to attach the flowers. The cake looks great except the primary decoration keeps falling off. What can I do??? Help me please.

Try glueing them with gel. Sometimes that works.

Are they on the sides? If so maybe you could try using toothpicks or another support to keep them on? Sorry I can't help more. Its hard to picture it. Do you have a picture?

I don't have a pix to upload. It's a three tier wedding cake, fondant daisies are around the sides of each tier. There are 3 sizes of daisies and the large ones (cut w/ the wilton cutters) are totally falling off. They are pulling away from the cake and falling right off. The daisies were done w/ gum tex mixed in and are hard, so unfortunately toothpicks wont work. Any other suggestions?

Yea!!! I just got back from delivering the cake and....the piping gel worked perfectly. The daisies even stated on during the jiggle of 3 miles on a dirt road. Just had to baby them at first and give them a chance to dry. I can't tell you all how nice it was to have the support. Thanks soooo much.

Sugarbaker, I'm so glad that worked for you. I have a 6 layer stacked wedding cake next month with three sizes of daisies cascading down the side. I've been anticipating a problem with the largest flower and thought I would have to make it on a wire. If you had to do it over again would you go with the gel? How long did it take for the gel to dry to hold the flowers?

It didn't take very long, you just have to hold them where you want them for a few seconds, otherwise they start to slip down. If I ever do anything like that again I would go w/ the gel from the start. I haven't ever tried wire, though for a cascade it sounds like a good idea. Good luck w/ your cake.

Glad I suggested the gel. I had some heavy flowers that I put on a fondant cake and the gel kept them on even though they were heavy.
