I made a cake for a family picnic. I open the box this a.m. and it made my glaze image kind of run. The icing has some droop on the sides. I hate it. I am going to order some Sweetex, and if they change it then I am going to give up my beloved hobby I have had for about 35 yrs.

The new crisco sure isn't fair. icon_sad.gif

I just started using the store brand instead...but I sure do miss my crisco sticks...it made things so much easier!

I read a post in another thread the other day about adding a couple tbsps of cornstarch to the icing while making it and it takes care of the problem.

I make a special trip to Wal-Mart to buy their brand of shortening. It still is nice and firm and has the transfat in it. It works just fine!

Well this recipe has meringue poder in it and it did not help at all. I made 3 different recipes and they are all bad. Lots of air. The left over icing has seperated and has a big pool of icing at the bottom of the container.

Just glad to hear that I didn't do anything wrong. I haven't done a cae or made icing in about a year. I know sad. ANyway, I told my husband that the icing didn't look the same, I sure hoped it tasted good. I just made cupcakes for family, it didn't seem to ice as smoothly as it used to.

i didnt have a problem with the new crisco? How are you making it?

I made mine with

1c butter
1c crisco
1tsp vanilla
2-3tbsp milk ( whichever gives you the consistancy you need)

It decorated beautifully, and I have left over icing in the fridge and its holding wonderful?
