I am fairly new to the whole art of cake decorating. I have done all the Wilton classes & I see a lot of people on this site are devotees of Toba Garrett. Do you think "A Well Decorated Cake" is worth buying for someone who only decorates for a hobby or is it more geared towards the professional? Thanks for your input!

I haven't seen that book yet. However I just bought Professional Cake Decorating by Toba Garrett. It is a really good one. It covers everything from basics to modeling, gumpaste, and has some recipes. I saw on here that it was cheaper to purchase thru cooking.com, and it was cheaper than amazon or barnes and noble. I just got it on Tuesday and have spent everynight look thru it page by page.

BTW I too consider myself just a hobby decorator.

swheatsue, I have both books and I have to say that "The Well Decorate Cake" is my favorite. I use only Toba Garrett's buttercream icing on my cakes and her chocolate buttercream is out of this world good! thumbs_up.gif
