Does anyone know if tylose will harden mmf or just regular fondant?

Just for reference, would it harden rolled buttercream?

Thanks!

i know it will help commercial fondant harden, I don't see why it wouldn't do the same for MMF (I don't make that though so???) YOu probably would need more than the usual amount as the MMF doesn't have all the other gums and crap in it that commercial fondant does

It will, but you want to make sure that you sift it into your powdered sugar before kneading, so it gets evenly distributed.

It did not work for me. I don't know what the deal was, but the only thing that changed was my mmf had a strange, almost "loose" texture to it that made it more difficult to work with. My test pieces didn't harden up at all.

There was nothing wrong with my tylose either because I made up a fresh batch of gumpaste for backup and the gumpaste was fine.

Update: I added about 1/2 tsp. to about 8oz. of mmf. It did stiffen it up some (enough to do a bow).

I think I am not giving my items enough time to dry though(most orders aren't placed far enough in advance).

Also: tmriga: I am ROFL at your tagline "Let's play on my mood swing." Sometimes I feel like that, too!

And flourgrl: I love the way you put your sentence about the additives in commercial fondant. icon_surprised.gif)
