I am doing a wedding cake today and can't decide how I should transport it. I am wondering if I should go ahead and assembe the whole thing - 4 tiers 18x14x10x6. Do you think this would be OK (about a 20 minute drive) or should I just do 2 - 2 tiers and then assemble there?

I would place any supports onto/into the cake at home but assemble it at the place. You do not risk it you might be a good driver, but you can not control the other drivers.

good idea - place the supports in at home and assemble at the site!

the only reason i say assemble on site, is cause that much cake will be HEAVY! i would assemble two tiers, 14/18 and 6/10. then put the two together on site.

I would assemble maybe the top two, but not the bottom two. An 18 AND a 14 assembled weighs a ton!!!

Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

Did a 3 layer that weighed a ton. I figured I only had a 10 minute drive so it would probably be okay. Wasn't counting on the weight and the steps! grrrrrr made it there in one piece but I wouldn't recommend it.
