I have this wedding cake tomorrow; it has been a pain all the way though. But I have learned some new things so that's good. Anyway what do you think? Here is the bottom. It is a 12", 10", 8" stacked. She wanted these curls?! I can't pipe a straight line and I quess not a sqiggly one either
Do you think I should do them smaller? Thinking about it tonight I can't believe she didn't tell me a size. She supplied the ribbon; It is transparent. Should I do the curls underneath it as well? I love this site. Thanks for your help in advance. ![]()
Do you mean like scrolls? I just did them for the first (well 2nd) time tonight on my first wedding cake! Anyway I was terrified to do them, but I got the hang of it. I practiced for a few minutes on a cake pan. I think actually doing them free hand was a little easier than trying to follow a pattern or an imprint. I did mine on fondant with royal icing. I agree that smaller scrolls are probably easier than larger ones (for the shaky factor) I probably would not do them under the ribbon because then when you put the ribbon on it will be all bumpy (if you use royal) or if it is buttercream you'll mess it all up.
Shoot, why isn't this working. Well it will come up in my pics eventually. This cake has a hex on it! ![]()
It shows up now, it is just so tiny it is hard to see it well. I think not having the scrolls under the ribbon would be better, if you can still do that.
