I'm so excited! I decided to go ahead and book my trip. Now I was wondering if anyone else is going?

For those of you who don't know what it is it a CAKE CRUISE they are going to Alaska and there will be demos by Nicholas Lodge and Colette Peters as well as all the fun that takes place on a normal cruise.

It's going in Sept 2007 so of course that's a year away but if you book now before the end of this month you save $50.

If you want to read about it just Google Cake Camp and click under the section of Cake Cruise and you can read all about it. It tells the costs and the ports they are stoping at.

I hope several of the people on CC go. It will be fun I'm sure.

Joanne

Hi, Joanne.
I'll be there with my hubby. I'm sure it's going to be great fun.

The Holland America ship, Noordam, is the newest in their fleet. It has a fabulous Culinary Arts center set up like a theater with multiple plasma screen TVs so that they can focus in on the countertop where the chef is working. With their TV experience, Nicholas Lodge and Colette Peters will be perfect for this type of venue.

I'm guessing that there may be other culinary demonstrations done by the cruise line, too.

The Inside Passage of Alaska should be wonderful this time of year (early Sept.). The whales will be migrating south to their breeding grounds in Mexican waters and the eagles should also be migrating toward the south, too. Lots of pics to be taken--on and off the ship!

Can't wait!

The cruise is sponsored by the California Cake Club--you must be a member to be part of the activities on board that are related to the cake club. You can join at their website:

http://www.cacakeclub.org/

Information on the cruise, the ship, the itinerary, etc. is here:

Rae,

I'm so happy someone here is going to go for sure too. It will be so fun. Plus lots of time to get together with other fellow CC members.

Cake Camp was so crazy that everyone was running around from class to class and some of us didn't get to meet.

But the cruise will allow time at dinners, after dinner and durning the days we are out to sea.

Hey, I may need a roommate. I have a friend that is trying to get her husband to let her go. If she can't I will post asking for a roommate. I booked an outside room with a view.

Please if anyone is thinking about going go check it out and let's try to get as many of us to go that we can. We have time to plan and save.

I'm going. I also just got back from Cake Camp in Vegas. It was great. Am really looking forward to the cruise. Been on an Alaskan cruise before but you add Colette and Nick Lodge and I don't think it could get much better.

Wow, I wish I could go but my sisters and some more family members and myself have already planned an Alaskan Cruise for '08 with Carnival.

At this time, I'm paying on our cruise to Mexico in April of '07 plus trying to get an edible image printer...my pockets are screaming overload icon_lol.gif .

Forget about Nicolas and Collette; I would love to meet my CC Buddies instead icon_wink.gif

Have fun and be good thumbs_up.gif .

Fairytale,

How fun! I'm excited to see people here are going to be going. We must all talk when it gets closer so we can plan to get together. Maybe even get a dinner table together???

What classes did you take at cake camp? I wonder if we had any classes together.

I took a look at your photos and you do wonderful work! Looks like you teach a class or two yourself.

Thanks guys. At cake camp I took the Deb Brown Sylvester and Tweetie class, an exotic flower classes, a fresh flower class, two bow/ fondant classes, and the marzipan animal class. These were only the second classes I've ever taken. I'm self taught. The first class I ever took was a one day Colette class in April.

This really sounds fantastic, but reading the info on the presentations, it says the live presentations with Collette Peters and Nicholas Lodge are only open to 135 people and CCC members get priority for tickets. Not that I wouldn't love to take an Alaskan Cruise, but I would hate to think that I wouldn't get to see the presentations when that is the main purpose of the cruise.

The first 135 people who join are the ones getting to go to the demos. I believe they are only going to sell 135 tickets for the cruise also. The rest of the rooms are for the cruise line directly to sell. Cake Cruise booked 135 rooms only. So if you make it on the cruise you make it to the demos.

Hey I was in Sylvester and Tweety also! So we must have saw each other. Where were you sitting? I was on the right side, 2nd room from the front and first seat by the middle.

I loved that class!

Wow, I was sitting in the front row. As you walked in the door, isle seat, left side. She was great and I love my little Sylvester. The only problem is that he was cracking and his tail didn't stay up.

I signed up for the cruise in August so I guess I'll get to see the demos. YIPEE!!!!!! icon_lol.gif

Glad to be of some assistance, Monica. From what I've seen this is about the average cost of cruises these days. Unfortunately for us we the cost of the commute to Seattle, WA. to add to the cruise fare.

Fairytale,

I think you sat right in front of me. I said the right side but was thinking of sitting down and looking at Debbie.

I asked you if you were a professional cake baker. You gave me some powdered sugar, if I'm thinking of the right person.

Yes we will for sure meet up on the cruise.

Yes the cost of the cruise is about normal. It's a bit more for the cake demos but not much. Airfare does make it add up a bit more also. I think Alaska is one of the more costly cruises but I hear it is worth every penny.
