Hi guys... i have a question re: cake construction? I was always under the impression that the staacked cakes just had card board rounds and dowels between them.. but are you supposed to place the cake with its board on the plastic plates between tiers?? im confused. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to doing this? thanks everyone

you do not have to use plastic plates. It's an alternitive depending on the style you want.

Usually, the plate separators are used when you want space between each tier, say to put flowers in the space.
