you make 2 cakes... one that you think is pretty average, and another that you think is sooo awesome and you're so proud of... but the one you think is average gets tons of look-sees and comments and the other gets hardly any!!?? hehehe

Now... I'm not saying quick rush off and make comments... but I was so amazed and tickled pink with all the views & comments on my star cake, that when I finished my fire cake it would have as many hits as big as ben hur... icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif but it didn't...

just was wondering if anyone else found this to be true also...

I am always amazed that some cakes don't get a lot of views, comments and favs. but i guess it just depends on if a lot of factors. its a shame, but just the luck of the draw thumbs_up.gif

When I save something it is a cake which I think I might be able to do. If it looks too difficult I wouldn't save it. That could be why your personal favorite doesn't get saved as much......You are just too good!

Well, I went and looked at your two photos - your fire cake is excellant!! But, and this may not hold true for all cakes - you star cake was so bright and colorful - I had already looked at it earlier - it was so colorful in the little thumbnail you see that I clicked to get a better look at it. There are so many gorgeous cakes out here and unfortunately I just do not have time to look at all them (as much as I wish I could - and it seems have tried a few time - staying up till 12 or 1 o'clock on cc! LOL! icon_lol.gif ) So, anyway what I am saying is the bright colors of the star attracted more attention...but in any case, both are great! icon_biggrin.gif

I agree with BCjean, and sometimes people are simply looking for "techniques" they will want to try in the future too....your work is great.

icon_lol.gif I know exactly what you mean! I have alot more comments & favorites on my bleeding armadillo than my Elvis bust, and the armadillo took only a couple hours while the Elvis took me three tries and about the same number of days to do! I think the last 'commentor' was right on, people will save to their favorites cakes that they think that they would like to do themselves. I'm not complaining! LOVE you guys! icon_biggrin.gif

That happens to me too! I made 2 wedding cakes in one weekend. One was a disaster and the other I thought was my best ever. The disaster cake got a lot a lot more favorites and the other one was hardly looked at at all. While I think I did a flawless job on the one, it was pretty basic with fondant and ribbon, the other was full of flaws but more unique.... But I have had the same feelings as you, disappointed since you figured the better one would do "better"
