I made my own birthday cake for my birthday today (see picture below). I couldn't for the life of me get the the buttercream smooth. Would it have helped to thin the icing or do I need to try another recipe (I use Wilton's class buttercream, thin consistency). Any hints or tips would be welcome. As funny as it sounds I'm almost out of my element with buttercream. I've used fondant so much lately I'm out of practice with buttercream. I've only been decorating since June, so I don't have much experience.
BTW...it wasn't supposed to be crooked, any tips there would be nice too.
Thanks all.
Happy Birthday!!!!! My daughter's birthday is today also! I am in the middle of making her cake for her party. She came up with a weird design. It will have leopard print , cow print, and zebra print. She's going to be 9.Your cake is beautiful!!!
