Hey all! I'm making a three-tiered cake for a wedding shower later this month and I'll be working with the Wilton pastel colored pre-packaged fondant. I have heard from many of you that you do not like the taste of the fondant, however, the customer wants the exact colors of the Wilton pastels so I don't want to get into coloring my own. Any ideas on how I can make it taste better? Or should I just try coloring MMF and hope I can match the colors?

I picked up a tip from someone here in another forum and it works really well - mix in a little of each extract (vanilla, almond and butter) to your taste. I use about a teaspoon of vanilla and butter and a 1/2 teaspoon of almond for 8 oz of Wilton White and adjust from there.

You could add a teaspoon of flavoring to help the taste. What kind of cake are you making? You could compliment the cake. If it was me, I would use the MMF. It is not hard to color it and I am sure you could get the same color. I would add small amounts at the time and let it sit a little, because it will deepen a little.

You can get McCormick's Vanilla Butter Nut extract at the grocery store, or at least you can here, and that has all 3 flavors in it!
