Hi ladies! I've been reading and learning on here for a few weeks and I finally tried my first cake. It's my practice cake for my daughter's first birthday...worked out fairly well....I still have TONS to learn and plenty of things I will change for her real cake, but this is enough to get me excited about learning more! Thanks ladies!
Tinkerbell is my 2nd attempt at a FBCT...the first one I tried the week before on a plain cake and she didn't work out, I tried a different recipe this time and the result was great.
Hope to be joining you ladies more and learning some great stuff ![]()

The fbct looks great. Can I ask what recipe you used? Keep up the great work, I'm sure your daughter will love it. ![]()
Great job on the cake. I agree, you will become addicted to CC. Right now, I'm supposed to be doing bills at work, but I can't drag myself away from the dang computer. ![]()
Thanks for the kind words everyone! It is FAR from perfect but I figure I've got to start somewhere! I learned all that from y'all so THANKS! I will admit to using many shortcuts though. I used a cake mix but added the pudding extender that I read about on here. I also used store bought icing (but it was the wilton icing). I only made the icing for the FBCT.
Chrissy, I'll look up the recipe when I get home tonight so check back!
You did an AWESOME job!! Great work!
Angie
Chrissy,
Here is the recipe for the FBCT I used:
1/2 c. crisco
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c. powdered sugar
I also put just a little crisco on the wax paper and smeared it all around before I started icing it. The first time I tried it weeks ago she stuck all to the wax paper so I'm not sure if it worked this time because of the recipe or the extra crisco.
Thanks so much for the recipe. I have tried before but they cracked and stuck to the wax paper. I'll let ya know. Thanks again--your's looks great!!
