I have used this recipe many times and have never had this problem - is it the shortening/oil/flour mix I'm using to grease the pan or could it be the bake-even strips?

I have had this happen a couple of times. Since I never change ingredients or brands I determined that it was because I left the cake in the pan too long to cool. Possible? Just an idea.

Yes I would say it was left in the pan to long, I always wait 10 minutes then release on to a cooling rack. I mean thei nside was done right, it wasn't that the cake wasn't quite done yet was it? So annoying isn't it? Sorry ,hope it doesn't happen again.

thanks - I left it in the pan for 20 minutes because it was a little larger pan. Next time I'll take it out after 10 minutes!!! Live and Learn...

Wow edible art, I just looked at your photos of your cakes, beautiful! I especially liked the baptism and cupcake one which I have yet to tackle. Are the cupcake cakes easy in your opinion? Seems like they would, but like I said I have yet to try. icon_smile.gif
