I have been looking at everyone's cakes and I must say, every cake is soooooo amazing thumbs_up.gif. My question is this; if you make a cake, say a bday cake for a relly, the cake is covered in fondant with beautiful fondant decorations or gumpaste decorations, when it comes time to cut the cake, do you dismantle the cake...take the fondant/gumpaste decorations off then cut cake...then depending on what type of fondant used...do you peal that off?

Sorry if i'm rambling on....

Usually if it's fondant, you should be able to cut right through it. If there are gumpaste decorations it's a good idea to take those off since they dry harder and don't really taste good anyway. But the fondant is meant to be eaten, so if people don't want to eat it, they can peel it off their own piece.

You should be able to cut through the cake with the MMf Fondant atleast, that is all I have worked with at this point.

I remove all decorations that are REALLY HARD like figures etc.........as for mmf flowers and such I just leave them like you would a bc cake..........basically just treat it like bc.......you wouldn't cut the cake with candles still in it right??? so I don't cut it with molded figures and such either.
