Fall Tasting Cakes???

I am entering in the Annual Oktoberfest baking contest. It will be judge on taste instead of decoration. Is there anyother cakes besides a spice cake with cream cheese icing that would remind you of fall???

I love Pumpkin cake or maybe something with sweet potatoes. Hazelnut also reminds me of fall.

What about Pumpkin cake? I found this recipe from Kraft that I'm planning to try. It starts with a boxed cake mix but I'm sure you could start with a scratch cake instead. I will post the link below (maybe it will work). icon_confused.gif

Spice cake reminds me of fall. Also, anything with cinnamon, nutmeg or cloves (basically allspice) would do it. LOVE PUMPKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beer cake? My husband loves those - but I have yet to find a good recipe for anything other than a cake that ends up heavy like a log icon_smile.gif Just thought it might go over well at an Oktoberfest!

I love going to allrecipes.com for recipes, there are several in there for an apple cake, that to me is very fall like! Check it out, also every recipe is reviewed and labeled up to a 5 star recipe. Goodluck!

Mexican Chocoate Cake in the recipes here. Has cinnamon which gives it a warm fall taste.

I read someone in another post talking about an eggnog cake. They couldn't make up their mind on what type of filling to use...caramel, maple, or cinnamon.
