I am making a pool party cake with little swimmers floating in innertubes (cake design similiar to the one in the 2007 Wilton Yearbook). The figures will be made out of Satin Ice. I am making 12, one of which will resemble the 9 year old guest of honor.
I can get a 2 lb. tub of Satin Ice for $11 from my local cake deco supply store. What would be a good price to charge? $2.50 per figure?
Thanks for all your help!
Good question! Guess I should do one and time myself. By looking at the pic, I'm guesssing 15-20 mintues? I'm confident I can make one, but I get your point that time = money.
They are going to be "floating" on the innertube. So that would be a whole figure.
$2.50 each???? It's more work than you think. I am doing fondant figures for a wedding cake in September and I am charging $60.00 for 2 figures made in likeness to the couple.
You are making 12 figures.. add the innertubesand even if they are only 1/2 people.. it's a lot of work making them look right. I wouldn't touch my fondant for $2.50 a piece.
