So, I am making a gerbil maze cake. The maze will spell out happy 13th birthday Tracy. The maze will be made out of modeling chocolate and written in like a techno "font". The gerbil will be at the start of the maze with a peice of fondatn lettuce at the end. The only think I can't figure out it how to make the gerbil look real. I have the body shape down, but how would you make the hair on it. It is life size, and made from gp so the kid can keep the thing. Any ideas??

I just googled the images for a gerbil, ( I dont even know what one is icon_redface.gif )

Could you just hand paint it on or maybe using royal icing and do it like you would for brush embrodiery.

Just a thought.

Good luck with it.

Cheryl

I think this is the technique she was talking about:

thanks fancymcnancy, that is exactly what I am talking about.

It can be used to add a 3d effect.
