Need Help Torting

hey you guys! am making a b'day cake for my hubby-9 inch round
if i want to try torting how long do i wait for my cakes to cool, etc.....can anyone give me some simple instructions?

If you are going to cool it at room temperature then you have to wait until it is completely cool to torte.

I would suggest placing it in the freezer for about 45 min to an hour. That will cool it off quick and also firm it up for torting..

Cakes are much more fragile when they're warm, so definitely wait until they're completely cool before you torte them. You can either cut with a knife or you can cut it with dental floss or heavy thread. If you're worried about the layers being even, you can stick toothpicks in the sides as a guideline.

i've let them cool at room temp about 1 hour 45minutes now-- is that cool enough?

Really depends on your kitchen, but as long as they're at room temp they're fine.
