I am planning on making a small tiered cake, a 9 inch with a 6 inch on top, both 3" pans. The colors I am going to use are delphinium blue and white. It will be decorated with daises, a bow on top and maybe a bow around one of the layers. Which combo do you think would look best, white buttercream with the blue accents (daises, bows, etc.) of the blue buttercream with white accents?
I am always partial to white with color accents, especially darker or richer colors like blue...have fun!
Unless it is a wedding cake, I think the blue with white accents would look great (like your Course III final cake with the purple & white roses for accents - I took a peek at your photos!). Delphinium blue isn't too dark so it would look pretty as the base color.
I agree with the blue for the base and white as the accent. ![]()
I think the delphinium blue with the white accents will be beautiful!!
I love the delphinium blue color, very subtle, yet pretty. I would go with the blue cake, white flowers.
I wanted to let you all know that I ended up doing blue with white accents. I decided to cover the cake in Fondant since I could not get it smooth for the life of me (my biggest problem all of the time!). The blue fondant got a little too dark but overall I was pretty happy. Especially since I had just found out I was pregnant and was really sick the day I had to decorate it. Now I can't stand caramel or the coffeemate flavoring!
The cake is in my photos if you would like to take a look, thanks to all of you for your votes!
