so here i am ( i cann't believe how stupid i was but here is no way out)
i took and order where i need to use black. i was so sure i had black at home. then i realised i didn't . went to the shop today and OMG! NO BLACK...
so i tried to do my own brown green red and blue. now i have something almost black but it has a strong shade of green.

What color should i add to kill the green shade? Red? tried brown and purple no difference really. Suggestions please. i canno't try anymore as the fondant is getting way too soft.

Perhaps navy blue might work? Is there anyway you can store your fondant, and go to another store to see if they have black? Do you only have one cake decorating supply place around where you live?
Hopefully it will work out for you.

can you take just a small pinch and try adding the red to see if it takes out the green? that way you don't make the full batch any softer?

Yes, if the icing has a strong green overtone, adding red should cancel it out and make it appear more black.

In an ideal situation, if you take an amount of green gel and add the exact same amount of red, you should get black.

My son had the same problem, he was stationed in England. But he solved it with adding just the red, blue and yellow till they made the black. He did use more red and blue to get it if that will help you some. It was not that the UK was out of black but it was after hours and the cake needed to be ready for the party the next morning. Yes he does decorate cakes..... icon_biggrin.gif
