I have to do a cow print cake and want to put a cattle brand off center on a 12" round. The clients' last name starts w/ M, so I'm thinking of an M of course, but want it to look 'branded' on the cake. It will probably be bc, but possibly fondant, we're still working that out.

What do ya'll suggest?
Thanks!

You could use the opposite end of a paintbrush (or something similar) and draw the design in there (somewhat indenting it into the icing) and then maybe painting it will black icing coloring.

Thanks xandra, I actually just saw it. I saw your reply to another post and looked at your pictures. I was thrilled to see the brand. That cake looks great, how did you get it that color? Looks like leather!

I have to figure out how I want the M to look. Any ideas are more than welcome!! icon_smile.gif

the color of the brand was just the wiltn brown out of the jar. The fondant brown waslight brown fondant and then I did a faux finish on it with some brown color and vodka and sponged ot on there. I had to let it dry for a while and go over it with some powdered sugar so it wouldn't be so shiny. Hope this helps. I'll try and do a search for cattle brands.

Go down about 1/2 way. I think that's kinda cool!

That's cool, thanks! After looking at several online cattle brand sites, and several horse and cow butts icon_biggrin.gif, I think I finally figured out what to do. The clients are Nevada transplants, here to stay, so I think the shape of a Texas w/ a big "M" inside it might work.
