Has anyone seen this mold by FMM????? I just saw it in my Cake Craft & Decoration magazine.

Holy cow is that one pretty looking strand of fondant pearls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_eek.gif I found it online and ordered it. I can't wait to give it a try. Does anyone on here already have it? I only have the blue rubber molds and this one looks quite different. It says they come out perfect every time but that remains to be seen.

Anyway, I'd love to hear anyone's opinions on this mold.

Yeah, this one looks like hard plastic. We'll see!! I love putting pearls on my cakes and to do one of this style can open the door for so much more creativity.

I'd like a link too, please, if it isn't too much trouble. I tried doing a search for it, but I guess my searching skills aren't all that great.. heh

I'm really curious to see what it looks like. I have an idea, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right thing.

Thanks in advance,

Holly

Yes that's the one!!! I ordered it from global sugar art but for some reason right now their site is taking too long to load. Not sure what that's all about but I'll keep trying to post the link, the picture of the mold is a bit clearer. It's also $21.00 which I expected considering I paid $19.95 for my two other molds.

Wish you could see the picture in the Cake Craft & Decoration magazine.

Click on the picture to enlarge it. And it was $21.99 not $21.00

I have that 2 sizes of that mold from FMM. I find that I still prefer to use the blue silicone ones made by CK products. Not sure if its just that I am so used to the silicone ones (had them way before the FMM molds). The FMM mold is hard plastic.

yeah, it looks like hard plastic. I was wondering the same thing about being so used to the blue flexible molds. We'll see!

Hey girl, how are ya?!?!?!? icon_biggrin.gificon_razz.gifthumbs_up.gif

Yeah, I'm impressed.

I tried out the mold and it will definately take some getting used to being hard plastic and all. Plus you have to make sure when you press the mold together that you do it enough so that you don't have a "lip" on the pearl all the way around. Practice makes perfect.

Cakemommy I just got that mold too and i hate the fact that It has that edge all around(front and back) I was surprised because I expected to get nothing but seamless pearls, maybe I ll try the silicone one.

As far as I know there isn't a silicone one that makes the tear drop pearls. If you find one please let me know!!

I'm good Amy, how bout you ! (still working those borders?)

when I was looking to buy bead molds, I ask about those and I didn't really get much of a response so I ended up buying some from first impressions.. they are almost flat on the back and they lay nicely on the bottom border..

What is first impressions? I guess I could look them up!

Believe it or not, I'm not making cakes for the Naval Hospital anymore. The lady that was in charge of events just decided not to go through me any more. No reason given! Not sure why but I think I was just too expensive. No sweat, the Nurse Corps still has me make their cakes. Plus I am working on a wedding cake for this Saturday and I have one for September. I am thinking about using this new pearl mold on this cake but I seriously need more practice!! icon_confused.gif
